Mute Fest may be a fictional music festival, but it still looks like a lot of fun.
I chose bright colors and cartoon-like patterns to create more than just a poster, I wanted to make MUTE fest feel exciting.
Like it might just tempt the attendees to fly a little too close to the sun…
The moth, the caterpillar, and the lightbulb are the characters that the rest of this world grew out of.
It was tricky at first to find a look that could be translated across different formats and stay cohesive. After some experimenting, I used the markings of the death head on the moth’s wing to create patterns. Those patterns were perfect to apply all over the fictive walls and merchandise of MUTE fest to tie it all together.
I created an entire visual identiy for MUTE, posters, social media adaptations, patterns, merchandise, even the iconography for the toilets and restaurants.
