This fanzine, “Giddy in Gipuzkoa”, is a love letter to the Basque Country, and in it I’ve recorded a few of my favorite discoveries while living here the last two years.
Moodboard (above) is a peek into my creative process. The aesthetic was a fusion of children’s storybook illustration from the 1900’s and 1960’s folk music posters.
The final colors are muted versions of the Basque flag (Ikarriña) and the typography is also very typical of the traditional Basque style.
Each illustration was made with pen & ink on stiff watercolor paper. I decided to keep them in black and white to invoke the aesthetic of classic storybook illustrations.
